THE SHADOW WAR PROJECT

WELCOME TO THE SHADOW WAR PROJECT

Shadow War is a fan film by fan filmmakers. We chose to take it to INDIEGOGO because this site is making passion projects like ours possible. Shadow War is a large endeavor and up until this point, we have invested thousands of our own dollars to get the project this far. Now we're asking you, the fans of this iconic character, to watch the trailer above and help us get to the finish line.
Our modest goal of $13k will be entirely invested in making the pilot episode of Shadow War the best that it can be. It will be spent on location fees, insurance, effects and make-up, original sound design, post and editorial, professional on-set personnel and great actors. If our campaign gains traction and we are able to meet any stretch goals, all additional funds shall be spent towards additional Shadow War episodes, hopefully the full 6 episodes as scripted but at least 30-60 mins of additional content.
Thank you for your support.

SYNOPSIS

Shadow War is a fan film web series contemporary thriller in which an adversary with unlimited resources and power has masterminded a way to draw Superman and Batman into confrontation that will assure their mutual destruction. The catalyst involves the pursuit the greatest cat burglar alive, Selina Kyle, also known as Catwoman. She is a dangerous adept with exceptional skills in combat and evasion, but this time her only hope of escaping capture is to hide in the shadow of Gotham’s Dark Knight, the man she’s falling in love with. Together they will risk everything by diving deeper into the mad spiral of a conspiracy that reaches further than any of them suspect.
The plot is original although it follows the comic book canon and takes place after the death of the 2nd Robin, Jason Todd. Batman has continued his war on crime alone but this is the darkest phase of his career. He blames himself for Jason’s death at the hands of The Joker.

SETTING

The world of Shadow War is like our own, but through the looking glass darkly.  It is at the same time a familiar and more frightening place. Gotham is a dangerous city. The Great Recession drags on. The jobless rate climbs higher. The divide between rich and poor expands. Graft, corruption and greed abound. The cities seem perpetually on the brink of chaos and martial law. All the signs are inching steadily into the red.  “Gothic-Punk” is the best term to describe the tone of Shadow War. The environment reflects the division between social classes. Gargoyles loom over the excess and the squalor. Among the poor there is a festering rage, which is spreading. It makes those in seats of authority even more entrenched in their professed duty to preserve law and order. But a corrupt center cannot hold.

COSTUMES & PROP DESIGN

Shadow War’s costume design, including the classic grey and navy blue Batsuit, are inspired by the Arkham video game series. A group of veteran special effects industry professionals created the real-life Arkham Batsuit that some call: “unquestionably the greatest Batman costume ever made”.

Lasrever has been collecting costumes, masks and props (as seen below) for the past year in preparation for Shadow War. We own the Grapnel Gun Replica and this set of bat gadgets. These molds are based on the Arkham video game series.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

For nearly 20 years I've wanted to make a Batman movie. This is truly a passion project. Every dollar raised will go towards the production of the best fan film my team can make. If we exceed our fundraising objective, we have stretch goals to continue the story in a multi-part web series. We will elaborate on that ambition as the campaign continues. I hope you'll contribute and I thank you for your consideration.
